The Korean players are currently far from being a good mood. Similar to us about a year ago, an apocalyptic mood prevails in the forums and blogs. The reason is the uncertainty of what will in fact designed HanbitSoft with the server move to the U.S.. In the press conference three days ago Hanbit justified the move by a major structural change in the server. The current system is not long-run stable. Because of the many changes is also not possible entrainment of the existing characters. Prepare Now there are rumors, Hellgate in Korea was a large-scale beta phase on the global restart should.
Quite so improbable is the story at all. After the Flagship Studios with Hellgate: London had failed and the majority of the player wanted to see and hear nothing more of HGL has to HanbitSoft on Korea and the resumption of development is concentrated. The new team was able to familiarize themselves to negotiate Hanbit for distribution rights and Korean players to experience the same problems as we had in their time under the Flagship Studios. With the server move could Hanbit So actually want to implement the lessons learned and new ideas to venture an international restart.
Moreover, now new rumors are circulating again that HanbitSoft had recently acquired the distribution rights from Namco. For a mere 50 million Korean Won (equivalent to just under U.S. $ 43,000), the deal should have been settled. A confirmation of the message we have unfortunately not. Of course, this final step, however, would be the clear indication of a worldwide revival of Hellgate. This includes the many comments triggered Korean observers at the conference and the disappointed voices from the forums and blogs.
We have for you rummaged through the threads, and some comments more or less freely translated by Google (for the 100% accuracy can therefore) to guarantee no:
* We have been abused to somewhere else making money.
* It has become apparent that we were only intended as a guinea pig.
* It was clear that one durchbekommt with the current server structure, no two patches more. That could be read even in the developer notes.
* I can not imagine that the effort to make the new server structure, can only go to a game that is also in Korea almost two years old.
* That was all just a trick to cover the development costs too.
In principle, one might think, therefore, the move to the U.S. would be the logical consequence could be expected. That burp HanbitSoft with Hellgate: London the door into the western market will have safe, but I suspect not. So Inserted really just a simple restructuring behind it? Given the effort, cost and especially the angry Koreans, I think an international comeback for not just unlikely.
So what I can gather from this is:
- Server move to US, resulting in total wipe of the servers (all characters lost, accounts wiped)
- Rumors that HanbitSoft finally acquired the rights to NA/EU distribution of HGL from Namco
- Only reason why this server move would make sense is because HanbitSoft is planning on re-launching HGL in North America?
No official announcements on any of this yet, but if HGL was re-released in North America/Europe, would anyone here play it again?
Or does anyone even care? *tap tap*, hello, is this thing on?|||Aye, about 10 days ago Hellgate: Resurrection was announced. It seems Hanbitsoft aquired the NA/EU rights for publishing and they will be moving the new servers to NA.
The new game will feature all the 2.0 stuff plus what they have already added and come march of next year Hellgate: Tokyo.
There has been no confirmation on whether people from america and europe will be able to play this. I was waiting to have full confirmation on this before posting. Now that you have I'll just have to link the infoz!

There are a few more links but I think those are more than enough. The rest are in Korean. A Korean to German to English Translation won't be that great. For now they've mentioned to sit tight and wait for more news to be released.
As soon as I get more confirmed info or hands on impression on beta for Resurrection I'll post here.

Well, here's to hoping the rest of the world can play it! :D|||Heh, that's OK Pskl. Thanks for doing it, that way I won't forget :P|||Hello all just registered after reading some gossip about possible Hellgate revival.
Does this mean we need to purchase the new "Hellgate Resurrection" or is it an update? I have just read the info on WIKI but am more confused.
Seems sad that flagship couldnt have sold the rights for the $45k(approx) when they had a declining but dedicated player base, I still regard this as the best online game I have played, will keep checking this forums with crossed fingers.|||hey alchemika, welcome to the forums.
Yeah, you're a bit confused.
FSS lost the rights when they went bankrupt so namco/bandai own the rights to HGL publishing in NA (well supposedly, we still don't know if they sold the rights to Hanbit).
Hanbitsoft owns the Intelectual Property (IP) of HGL and they have kept on developing it since the FSS debacle. This year the HGL world will change to HG: Resureccion which is part of the Hanbistoft HGL IP, then they will release HG:Tokio as a new area (march of 2010). HG: Resurrection will include all new changed they've done to the client and all the 2.0 stuff that FSS worked on before they died.
HG: Revival has nothing to do with Resurrection, it's based on HGL MP up to 2.0 but it will be a port. They will be reworking it and it's going to be open source so people can mod it and play around with the game. Revival is being developed by fans of the game who know the potential it had and they'll work on bringing that to light.
Right now there is a FunPatch the Revival team has released which mods the SP game and brings some MP items into the SP world. Very nice and I recommend it so check out their site for the download.
I hope this cleared up all your questions.
