Respecing Skills in Hellgate

So, this has been a topic of discussion that has been going on an off since long before the game was even released. Now that the game is released, and people have been maxing their characters, what do you think? Is the game time investment small enough to warrant a complete lack of respecialisation possibilities, or is there room for some type of change in skills?|||I'm all for every character getting ONE respec.|||I have been pondering this for some time, and I find it odd that a game as new and nice as Hellgate really lacks any respecialisation functionality. For me, being very attached to characters I play, I'd rather have replayability on my characters, than being forced to make new ones. On the other hand, free respecs will make you careless with skills.

Still, if you have a chance of changing the specialisation, you wouldn't *have* to either wait with putting skills out, or read up on all the skills before actually playing. Isn't playing and learning the fun part? I will vote a bit later, but I am positive that I want some type of respec possibility at least.|||One respec is pointless since it'll be like the Charsi Imbue - you won't want to use it. It has to be repeatable in a non-obnoxious period of time.

The last poll option is equally pointless - respec is coming. It may as well read "Candy!" because that's how useful voting for that option is!

I'd like to see a palladium cost involved, to ensure the continued value of it in the game.

I also wouldn't mind seeing it cost palladium to open up a quest you have to complete to get your respec token, to address the perceived issue where people will be respeccing to beat every boss that's a little difficult with one spec.

But simply costing more the more often you respec, less if you do it less often, that ought to be enough.

Cue the usual suspects spouting the same tired old reasons why respecs will ruin the game in 5, 4, 3...|||The MP party environment will focus on the 6 classes, and not on the larger set of possible builds.

If you are class X, average MPer will expect Y, and fuss if you don't have/do Y.

I also don't like someone getting to use a tweaked build after using cookie cutter approaches to level. They probably won't ever learn to use the new build to its best capacity.

Very wow-like, very annoying (It just takes too much time to level in WoW to start over).

Also makes large guilds pointless...

If they do put it in, I'd like to see it put behind an extremely difficult quest, in nightmare.

No palladium, that just screams abuse from bought money.|||Yes to a confirm box stopping misclicks. No to the respec.|||The poll should have a low level limited respec option (say level 20 or so).

You wont be able to go all the way with an easy spec when it warrants it, but you can still fix noob mistakes.

THOUGH...

If they just added skill tooltips saying what each skill does, then I am all for just having the misclick function.|||What I meant by "one respec" was completely remove all skill points ONE time.|||Yes. And such a thing would be pointless. People would be too reluctant to use it. It needs to be something that can be done repeatedly if it is to be of any use.|||Quote:

I agree on this.

It can help some careless people once, and preventing some people that want to switch from one specific build to a whole new build.
