Farming & Palladium

Hi,

I've got a few questions (well, one really) about farming & gaining Palladium in HGL.

My main character is only lvl 13 & so hasn't got particularly far, but I'm often running out of cash (though this could just be me spending it too frequently by upgrading items & breaking items down rather than selling them), is my situation going to improve as I get further into the game, or in Nightmare, or am I just "doing something wrong"?

Are there any good areas to farm (for items)?

Thanks.|||your lvl 13 and your out of cash,, wtf to you to i dont start upgrading until i'm likem ummm near the tests, and other items that i get i make into parts, and other items that i get from monsters i sell,,, i get a nice about of money all the time,,,|||I generally break down anything that doesn't sell for more than 150p

Of course if my bags are full, I break down greens, then blues and sell whatever is left over when I port back.

You shouldn't be spending so much money. I havn't needed to buy anything yet and I'm lev 17, short of paying to get mods removed. Don't both upgrading until your 20's or so, or unless you get an awesome legendary/unique item.|||It's a matter of how much upgrading you do.

I upgrade a lot... it keeps this damn game a bit more fun.

Items tend to be worth a bit more when sold later in the game. Paladium drops seem to stay constant for most sources, but bosses and treasure passages give more the later in the game you are.|||i dont really upgrade much, because i only spend money on items that are really worth it..

right now i've got 300k and im only selling items, i barely break them. I break most crap legendaries now.

I found a nice sword to start upgrading yesterday but i dont know if im gonna find a better one tomorrow... so i havent upgraded anything at all...and im doing "fine".. lvl 37 guardian|||just have to find your own balance of what to break and what to sell. generally you will get enough cash to go by.

i dont think you need to do any farm just complete all the side quests.|||Break down whites (worthless) and greens that don't sell for much or take up lots of inventory.

Never break down a rare or legendary item: The few materials you get are never worth the loss of money.

Fill your inventory with only legendary, rare and a few enhanced items, then return to town and repeat.

Never break down mods! Those little buggers are 200 + a pop for one square of inventory! SELL SELL SELL!

Never identify green items you only plan to sell. Only Id them if you are looking for some filler equipment of a certain type. Iding only raises the value by 20 pd regardless of the mods on the item.

ALWAYS ID RARES AND LEGENDARIES! - sometimes this can double their selling price, and they almost always sell for 3X enhanced. Once again, never break down a BLUE or ORANGE item.

Wear luck! +Luck is rumored to increase pd drops. + Luck increases the frequency of passageways. Treasure passageways are delicious!

Once again, break down only white and green items, never mods, never rares and you will have lots and lots of money to play with!|||Thanks for all the info guys. I think I'm just spending too much (but then if you don't spend it, what's the point of having it?) & breaking down too much.

On a related note, are Treasure Passageways different to Elite Passageways? I've had several Passageways, and the first ~3 or so had a nice chest at the end (don't remember what they were called though, though they had a curvey hole-in-the-ground kinda tileset). The last few Passageways I've been through were definitely called Elite Passageways & they didn't have a chest at the end, also, they used either the hellrift tileset, or the tileset the demo has, grey rooms, underground.

Thanks.|||Elite (holds at least 1 yellow mob)

Hidden (just an extra area)

Treasure (has loads of paladium)

All could have a chest in the end.|||You can end up spending an awful lot on the Augmentrex, but I wouldn't bother at lower levels (until) you have Rares for everything. This stuff will quickly be superceded by Legendaries, Uniques and later-in-the-game Rares, which means that item you spent 50,000 to 75,000 on will get sold for 250.
