Was Shipping On Time With Bugs Worth it? You Vote!

Support your vote with comments if you have anything to say.|||Yes.

I would prefer to play it and watch it evolve than have it release with just as many bugs in 6 months time, because they don't have enough people, even in beta, to give it a proper testing.|||Haven't had any major impact by the bugs. The only one that really pisses me off is the Unique Item bug as I am currently at a level where uniques start showing up frequently.|||I think the negative user experience and bad press has done more harm for the game than shipping it late would have.|||Haven't had any bugs playing solo, tried partying today and there was a huge amount of bugs in that.|||better to be able to play, than not t all.

Many good games got better after people started playing them.

They get more feedback this way.

(Even if betatesters are great)|||I love playing this game, but I think if they should have polished it a little more.

For example, my debate to subscribe is largely depending the bugs that exist and how they handle them. If these bugs weren't here, I would of subscribed for the extra content itself.|||Maybe, I haven't had any huge problems with the game, but the memory leak and graphics problems before the patch did get extremely annoying. Kinda depends on how much it would've been delayed.|||should of polished it... advantage would have been a more enjoyable game and higher average reviews|||got it the day it hit the stores. still, i think i should have waitet some more. I have a realy bad first impressino of this game by now.

If you could add your own NPC...

Who would you choose, what would they do, why would you choose them

Feel free to add any extra quirks or quest names or whatever :P

I would add Letterman. Every now and then, he would break out into a rendition of "Old Turkey Buzzard" while talking to a canadian potato on a stick next to him.

He would sell home editions of "Will it float?" and a piece of paper with his number on it if you're character is female

That guy survived like 5 bypass surgeries, there's no way in hell he's dying anytime soon :P|||Deckard Cain.... so I wouldn't have to keep buying Analyzers! "Stay awhile... and listen!"

How about a guy named Arthur who is fashioned after the Monty Python rendition, and gives you quests like 'Kill the Vicious Rabid Caerbannog' or 'Find Two Shrubberies and Receive The Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch'|||Quote:

'Find Two Shrubberies and Receive The Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch'

I'm thinking firefox launcher style >_>

More of a holy hand grenade launcher

Unless it was a skill for mm's in the grenade tree *ponders*

And I had a feeling DC would show up on the first page ;)|||Mayor West, from Family Guy. Certainly crazy enough to fit in.

Of course he'd want you to find out who's stealing his water. Or assassinate the Noid.|||A Scotsman called Alex Ferguson and a Frenchman called Arsene Wenger. Between giving you quests, they keep squabbling and slagging each other off (like a sort of Tweedledum and Tweedledee). :D Too parochial for our global colleagues? For those that don't know, they are two very successful football (that's PROPER football! :P ) managers, who are constantly at each others throats. And "Fergie" was the man who trained up David Beckham.|||Deckerd Cain and a Monty Pythons reference before the 3rd post! Oh wow!

St Paul Station!

St Paul Station!

St Paul Station!

It's only a model...

For my pick, I would choose Jeremy Clarkson. For him you would need to do some proper killing. Or find the corpse of a guy with a helmet. Ofcourse it won't let you remove the helmet and the guy wouldn't be really dead, but would kill all the demons in the area just so he could get to his car.|||Hmm Perhaps have an English Gentleman librarian and a Female Blademaster/cheerleader type you find the librarian and he asks you to find and rescue the cheerleader but she is way to hard and assists you in that zone

the watching man and Buffed up the demon slayer (Yes buffy reference I am sure she would love to kick but in a REAL hellmouth not some smalltown USA with no real Demons|||The Walking Man from The Stand and myself. I'm a Knight Templar so it's not a stretch that I'd be around still. Yes, we really do exist.|||Oh sweet merciful Durf, Smegtars rendered in glorious 3D!!!

I would add a sick, twisted old billionaire who enjoys making you do crazy things. For instance, he would offer you a large amount of palladium in exchange for coming back to him at exactly 1 health, or something the like.

Oh, and as for TV/Movie references, prepare to help out Mr. Adrian Monk. You get "They Aren't Even", a quest to reduce the number of _____es in _____ to an even number.|||I have the ultimate smegtar source pic but I can't release it quite yet.

It came from the Wiki!

This is no news to us visitors of the Unofficial Hellgate Site, or people who have deliberately searched for information on Hellgate, such as the mini-game, what Achievements that you can accomplish in the game, what demons you can kill, NPCs you can talk to, what Quests you can venture on, and what GUNS you can bring, simply put: HellgateWiki.com is currently the best place to find Hellgate related materials on the net today. Still, the community needs your help!

Help!

For many of the things added to the Wiki, there are a few exceptionally talented Wiki-fanatics (such as me, just that I am in no way exceptional) that writes pages worth of Quest information, NPCs and other things, and that is terrific! The Hellgate community would not have had HellgateWiki if it wasn't for them. For even more of the information needed to fully explain Hellgate's functionality, we need a lot of the small, minor efforts of other individuals (like yourself) as well.

What do you want?

Things like just adding your opinion on the Community Feature Requests project, to tell Flagship the opinions of the community is a good example. If you agree to issues, or have suggestions for adding requests, a 5 minute edit is very useful for yourself in the end, in terms of game progress.

Accurate Skill Calculations

Another big thing is the fact that Hellgate: London has an overly complex system of skills and stats. Complex when it comes to terms of explaining it or documenting what it is about. If we ever want a way to calculate skills that is accurate, we need help with filling out data. This coming week has Evoker focus, but any class' data will be most useful. The fine thing with having it in the HellgateWiki is also that anyone can use it for their own projects as well!

Anyway, there are a lot of things you can do for the community as a whole, without taking much time from gaming or free time at all. You probably appreciate the efforts of the few vigilant, but its nice if you also spend 5 minutes with adding a skill page screenshot in the Unofficial Gallery, or just the data needed for stat research.

Thanks for your time

Leord

Respecing Skills in Hellgate

So, this has been a topic of discussion that has been going on an off since long before the game was even released. Now that the game is released, and people have been maxing their characters, what do you think? Is the game time investment small enough to warrant a complete lack of respecialisation possibilities, or is there room for some type of change in skills?|||I'm all for every character getting ONE respec.|||I have been pondering this for some time, and I find it odd that a game as new and nice as Hellgate really lacks any respecialisation functionality. For me, being very attached to characters I play, I'd rather have replayability on my characters, than being forced to make new ones. On the other hand, free respecs will make you careless with skills.

Still, if you have a chance of changing the specialisation, you wouldn't *have* to either wait with putting skills out, or read up on all the skills before actually playing. Isn't playing and learning the fun part? I will vote a bit later, but I am positive that I want some type of respec possibility at least.|||One respec is pointless since it'll be like the Charsi Imbue - you won't want to use it. It has to be repeatable in a non-obnoxious period of time.

The last poll option is equally pointless - respec is coming. It may as well read "Candy!" because that's how useful voting for that option is!

I'd like to see a palladium cost involved, to ensure the continued value of it in the game.

I also wouldn't mind seeing it cost palladium to open up a quest you have to complete to get your respec token, to address the perceived issue where people will be respeccing to beat every boss that's a little difficult with one spec.

But simply costing more the more often you respec, less if you do it less often, that ought to be enough.

Cue the usual suspects spouting the same tired old reasons why respecs will ruin the game in 5, 4, 3...|||The MP party environment will focus on the 6 classes, and not on the larger set of possible builds.

If you are class X, average MPer will expect Y, and fuss if you don't have/do Y.

I also don't like someone getting to use a tweaked build after using cookie cutter approaches to level. They probably won't ever learn to use the new build to its best capacity.

Very wow-like, very annoying (It just takes too much time to level in WoW to start over).

Also makes large guilds pointless...

If they do put it in, I'd like to see it put behind an extremely difficult quest, in nightmare.

No palladium, that just screams abuse from bought money.|||Yes to a confirm box stopping misclicks. No to the respec.|||The poll should have a low level limited respec option (say level 20 or so).

You wont be able to go all the way with an easy spec when it warrants it, but you can still fix noob mistakes.

THOUGH...

If they just added skill tooltips saying what each skill does, then I am all for just having the misclick function.|||What I meant by "one respec" was completely remove all skill points ONE time.|||Yes. And such a thing would be pointless. People would be too reluctant to use it. It needs to be something that can be done repeatedly if it is to be of any use.|||Quote:

I agree on this.

It can help some careless people once, and preventing some people that want to switch from one specific build to a whole new build.

subscription w/o cc

Ok, at this time (and for the rest of my life tbh) I don't have a creditcard. I had one, and discovered it to be a HIGHLY unsafe way of payment. So I will never own one again.

BUT, if I want to subscribe, I only see CC payment methods (where is the founders option btw).

Is there any other way to do it?|||wish I could help but I can't find the thread, there is to be a paypal, debit from bank and prepaid time card options available in the future but I don't know when cuz I can't find the thread on the official HGL site.

In the mean time...you can purchase a prepaid Visa/MC and put $40 or so on it and it will hold you for the first 4 months, then maybe recharge it again as an option until the other payment methods are in place.|||It's not as if I miss the subscription options at this time, but I would like to see if I could get the founder thing. At this time, I think it's impossible. And when it is possible (as you said, paypal etc.), the founder thing is definitly offer.

Oh well.

What content do you want?

Hey all, my midnight posting frenzy continues

This is a "fun" discussion thread about whatever you think (realistic or otherwise) would be a great content inclusion in the future.

I'm thinking like chainsaw's, hand held crossbows or other such fun "lol" items.

As for content as in game worlds, I would love to see an homage to a cow level

"Put 2 PRD's in the nano forge and a portal opens" where hordes of possesed bovine charge you with guns and the like

Remember, nothing is too silly. If you would like to see it, post it and we might all just get a laugh |||Player controlled vehicles would always be fun |||A catapult-thingy that fires circular saw blades for Hunters.

J|||And maybe a scythe (you ARE out in the country after all, and it is Death's weapon) for the Templar, if FSS can do the animations for a two handed weapon.|||I wouldn't mind a paintball gun. At worst, it might take someone's eye out, but damn. Seeing a multi-coloured demon would just be tops |||Once they get promised features into the game, especially "mailing" items to other characters, then my brain will be able to move on to other ideas I'd like to see.|||I'd like to see some blunt melee weapons in the game. Hammers, Maces, etc.|||Cricket Bat !!!! is that blunt enough for you

Maybe having a Blunt Weapons Templar

Templar Spiritual Guide (The REAL Holy knights (Paladin) )

use Blunt medevel weapons (Sword exemption is Cricket bat (it IS blunt)|||A football pitch level, complete with a demonic eleven.|||Quote:

Nanodyne Ballistic Cannon does just that.

How to take screenshots in Hellgate?

I am trying to take some screenshots both for my personal collection and may be start contributing to the wiki.

I tried the print screen button but after I quit the game, I can't find where they are, or if they have been indeed taken. I tried looking for them in the /program Files/Flagship Studios/Hellgate London directory but no luck. I also tried the My Documents/My Games/Hellgate directory and nothing. Did I miss something? Can anyone help?|||You were almost there, if you did indeed take a screen shot it will be stored in the My Documents/My Games/Hellgate/Screenshots folder.|||I can offer you the program that I am using to take screens from every game I'm playing - ScreenHunter Free 5.0.125

http://www.wisdom-soft.com/products/...unter_free.htm|||am I correct hellgate will not take screenies in the character creation/selection area only in the actual game, t9o take a screenie in the character creation/selection area you need a screen capture programme like the one above or fraps|||My experience with screen hunter is bad, it put a box in the corner saying "Screenshot by screenhunter" type watermark.

If they've done away with that "feature" then it's worth using.

Otherwise, its not worth the download.|||Mine do go to:

C:\Users\babylon\Documents\My Games\Hellgate\Screenshots

BUT, they become 0 bytes

Luckelly I'm a paying Fraps user. That solves all my problems

edit: oo oo, 150th post /cheer /party|||I'm running Vista x64 and I don't get any screenprints saved anywhere within the game.... Given that many people are talking about c:\users\ paths for their screenprints, I guess this must be a x64 issue.|||Vista 32 here - no screenshots are saved in my "Hellgate" folder either...

However, Print Screen DOES copy a screenshot to the clipboard from where I can paste them into GIMP...|||Quote:

You should be able to take a screenshot of the character creation screen by pasting the results into an image editing program (eg mspaint). I took several screenshots this way (WinXP).|||Quote:

I am using Windows XP and no screenshot copied to the Hellgate folder in My Document/My Games. The right button to press to take screenshot is "print screen" right?
