My Stonehenge Preview (Screenshots)

This is a short run down of what you'll be seeing event-wise in Stonehenge.

There is a portal for subscribers inside of Templar Base that leads you to Stonehenge.

When you enter the Stonehenge hub, you'll have access to two zones:

Wake Hollow - a deep forest that connects to four locked paths

The Wild - a group oriented dying forest complete with hellish monuments, monoliths and totems; it is connected to The Foreboding Wild and The Deepest Wild, both of which increase in difficulty

To unlock the paths in Wake Hollow you must collect 5 essences of their respective path. Beast essences are obtained from beasts, Spectral essences from spectrals, etc. They can drop from any Rare, Epic, Unique, or Boss monster in any zone in the game; there is no differentiation between normal and nightmare essences as all zones in Stonehenge scale with your character.

Once you collect 5 essences, you can enter the respective path.

This is one of the modified tilesets in the Stonehenge patch.

The portal to the next zone in the Demon Essence path.

The new Winged Imps bolt in from the sky and land. Very cool effect.

The demon boss in Hell's Heart, Errgoth.

Once you obtain all four heads from the four essence dungeons, you can head to Moloch's Step in Stonehenge and continue through to eventually beat up Moloch for phat loots. All of these bosses and zones are repeatable granted you have the essences/heads.

Hope you enjoy Stonehenge!|||Wow, that looks really cool!

Are the enemies beefed up, compared to, say, the rest of the enemies you'll be facing at the time?|||Is stonehenge worth getting, in your opinion? Do you feel it is more of the same or it breathes some fresh air into the game?|||Well, I am a man who really picks a game on feeling moreso than anything. The grey darkness that are the original Hellgate tilesets really put me off--I almost didn't take a second look at HGL because of it. The ambience and design of the new forest tilesets really creates a good environment for me and the ability to collect essences gives my characters some kind of progress beyond 50.

@PancakeMan - The enemies scale with your character. In the Wake Hollow and connected zones they're all the same level I believe? In The Wilds and beyond, each zone is an additional level above you so it will provide a constant challenge for avid groupers or extreme soloers.|||Looks very nice. Can't wait to go and play in there! |||It looks awesome indeed!

Just a question: in order to farm Moloch is it necessary to collect the heads once and for all or for every single run?|||nice preview! thx for writing that up.|||Once you use Essences or Heads to open up a zone, that zone will stay open until your next game session. If you want to enter those zones again you will need more Essences/Heads; you can collect more than you'd need for one entry.

Update. More shots will come tomorrow as we draw closer to release.

Showing one of the new helmets at the border between Stonehenge and The Wilds.

This is an environment shot of one of the new forest tilesets. You can see a steep on the side of the hill which is scalable.

One of the more majestic looking enemies, the Leviathan is probably among the most difficult fliers anyone has faced yet.|||

Two shots of The Foreboding Wild.

There's also a map showing the size of one of the forest zones posted by Vhlad here. (Official Hellgate Forum access required)

This concludes my preview, thanks for taking a look!|||Didn't feel like opening a thread for this question so i'll ask it here...

Are there any plans of making the "Stonehenge chronicles" available as a real expansion over time, like they did with DII:LoD? Cause I've been playing HG:L for a while now, levelled a char to 50 and one to 35, and to be honest I don't think it's worth subscribing for (yet) , but offcourse i'd love to try the new stuff and i'm surely willing to pay for something like an expansion.

From the looks of these screenshots and what I've read about this patch it will probably improve the gameplay and re-playability but i won't be convinced to go subscriber until i've tried it out.
