Is there any type of companion or ally, like mercs from D2 in this game at all, or am I destined to run the game by myself?
I have only gotten through Act II or III, and no real companions...
however, two classes, Engineer and Conjurer, I believe, have 'minions' that you can have with you pretty much forever. The Engineer can have a drone and some 'bots, while the Conjurer can summon demons to fight by your side. I would try either of those classes.
I hope this info is helpful.|||Yeah I knew about the minions, sucks tho I really wanted someone to kinda pal around with me = ( thanks for the quick response tho!|||Just further to what markb said, since I've finished the game... no minions beyond the summonables, no mercenaries like in D2. The closest would be the Engineer's drone which, with the right skills, you can equip with guns/swords and armour.
No helmet though. The drone doesn't have a head.
However a bit later in the game there's parts where you'll get to fight alongside allies. But they're completely independent of you. But you can run around trying to keep them alive if you want. ;)
