Semi-noob looking for tips!

I've got a level 24 Marksman, and I must say I am enjoying the game a ton. Especially Techsmith 314 getting face raped by evil...great stuff. Anyway, my main question, as a Diablo fan, is who and where are the best sports to farm?

Everyone's answer seems to be Shulgoth or Stonehenge (I'm a non-subscriber, so far), but aren't there more than just those 2? I'm used to Andariel runs, then Mephisto runs, then Baal runs (effectively covering all your levels and equipment needs). It seems like Shulgoth for a level 24 is going to be disappointing (although I wouldn't mind a unique that's NOT a weapon for once). So if anyone's got any different places to go for loot, let me know. I just went through Ludgate Hill and am now supposed to go to Bishop's Court. Maybe there's a new boss coming up soon that's good for looting and I'm just being impatient?

Any help would be fantastic!

...please don't kick me in the specials.|||You can always try Tower of London. The Beast of Abadon usually has some pretty good drops, and is relatively easy to kill.

Otherwise, the best farming I've found so far (by far!) has been from Moloch's generals in stonehenge. I know you're not a subscriber, but if you ever do decide to subscribe, this is as close to 'Baal runs' as you're likely to find in HGL.|||Quote:

Yeah I just crushed Abaddon...He's a cool looking boss, but you'd think he'd hit a bit harder...the mini-fellboar's are more dangerous than him. I was wary of walking under him at first, figuring it would be nearly insta-death...Didn't even take me shields completely out. On a scale of 1 to ten Abaddon receives a 5 (the average of 10 for looks and 1 for difficulty).

Maybe if they made the scrip fee only $4.99 instead of $9.99 I'd do it...Just quit playing FFXI because I wasn't playing enough to get my money's worth.|||Quote:

Yeah, he doesn't do a lot of physical damage when you run under him, but boy, when he starts using his fire skills, it gets a bit hairy!

The felbores are indeed a pain depending on your class... My blademaster has a rough time with them (he's only little yet! lol), but my marksman activates multi-shot and wipes them out pretty quick.

That's one of the things that I love about HGL, is the way they've done it so that different quests/monsters are better handled with different classes, really fostering the need to party up.

But anyway, back to farming... Yeah, without a subscription, Shulgoth and Abby are your best bets IMHO (and don't forget about the 'kill Shulgoth 100 times' achievement!)

Edit: PS, as an amendment to my previous statement, the 7 bosses in St Paul's Hellgate definitely need to go on that list as well... I forgot to mention them because you're not there yet! ;) But, as a word of warning, DO NOT kill Sydonai if you're wanting to farm for a while. After you kill him, the 7 bosses in St Paul's don't drop diddly-squat. I made that mistake with my first char... It's like killing Baal in D2|||I killed Shulgoth a few times and didn't get much, but if I learned anything from Diablo 2 it's mindless assault after assault after assault after assault after assault...Well whatever it was I learned, it applies here.

Thank you for your unending spewing-forth of knowledgeable wonderments and splendorous advisement. Please, again, no kicks to the specials.|||Also check regularly in town from the salesmen who build you stuff from scrap, you can often get good stuff from them. If your having trouble getting good drops equip +luck items, its just like magic find in d2|||I haven't had much luck with +Luck gear. So far the most +Luck I've ever found was a pair of gloves with +14, and +10 on a Relic, which doesn't do a marksman all that much good...It seems from other threads I've read you need quite a bit more luck to truly see a difference, and that the difference isn't necessarily more good drops but instead more Rare, Legendary, and Epic monsters. Although, more of those DOES mean better drops...

Every time I come into town I check the crafting person, but other than some Legendary Batteries, Fuels, and Techs I've never gotten anything spectacular from her (seems to always be a her). I have over 1,000 scrap metals, 750 rare scrap metals, 800 chips, 800 rare chips, and a LOT more of those Blessed Shards which also do me no good...and never enough of the other ones. I break down a LOT of equipment, in fact almost all of it, because since the Augmentrix is broken I don't buy anything except Analyzers and PRDs...

I'm slowly weaning off the +Attribute gear for better gear with every level, but it's slow going. I figure from now on if it isn't +10 to all or higher I won't think twice about keeping it. That way I don't get stuck in the same boat later on, with my stats maxed out through +AA equipment when I'm getting railed by every monster I see because I have no Armor, Shields, or extra damage. The key is DON'T use something just because it has +AA...You learn something new every day, but it's the "too late to fix it" that sucks specials.|||I have been pretty lucky so far with my high lvl characters. I seem to find at least 1 or 2 legendars/uniques with +15 to all attributes and like +10 to str, will etc and other good stats on it. My lvl 44 templar is using 2 uniques, the rest legandary and has so much +to skills by accident that the closest feed to being full is stamina and it has over 50+ for me to fill it.....|||Good to know it's not an all-game scramble for more stat points then! I still have yet to see a unique piece of armor. I've had probably 6 or 7 uniques, all weapons, and all but one for other classes. I do like my Veteran XM-57 though...I'll focus on finding some new equips on Monday. Wish me +Luck!
