FSS, reinstate the Founder's fee. There are still avid players who want to take advantage of the lifetime membership.
Did you meet your quota expectations? If so, that's great for those fortunate enough to have been able to take advantage of the great offer. If not, then here's your chance to meet your quota through an extended offering schedule. Either way, it's more money in the coffer to help you support us, your loyal fans who will stick by you, especially for all the new goodies you'll be adding to HGL.
One suggestion: Make the $150 payment for lifetime membership available in 5 easy payments to help out those who can't afford to plop down the chunk of money all at once. You have teenagers, college students, young married people, those struggling to make their niche at work, older folks -- of both genders, from all walks of life.
You may be pleasantly surprised how many more lifetime memberships there are just waiting on the sidelines to be picked up. Heck, run a poll to see how many players are interested.
I'm a Founder, and proud of it. I chose this payment option because I didn't want to make monthly payments. Would I be offended if you made more Founder offers available? Heck no! The more the merrier, for both you and your fans.
Also, on a final note, I appreciate the excellent job you guys are doing for us in making HGL better. You've risen above the bad press to make the reviewers, in my opinion, eat their words. Of course, they're too busy with other things to do that, but your loyal fans are sticking by you, through thick and thin. So why not increase your lifetime fan base? Makes sense to me.|||It's only more money in the short term. They're obviously hoping to continue the game past the 15 month mark, at which point it becomes less money for them.
I don't care whether they do or don't, I just don't think they will right now. Maybe in 3-6 months time though? Who knows!|||Offering it again would kinda defeat the purpose of it in the first place. But who knows; game companies make bad decisions every day. Could happen ;)|||To be a 'founder' you kind of have to be there in the first place. I agree with your sentiment, and I am happy to be a founder as well... but IMO the term would lose its meaning if it was re-offered.|||They would call it something else of course, but I think its very likely they will bring some sort of lump sum subscription service back to entice more subscribers. I would be willing to bet there is something of this nature in game before the end of 08.|||Are you sure this news is accurate? Cause this kinda tickles me...|||I would love to see it. I missed the offer due to playing a different game and not enough time to research this stuff. I am a casual gamer that played DiabloII for years. Had I known, I would have done it. But I have a job, wife, and kids, I do not have the time to read all the forums and follow a game through development.
I also refuse to pay a monthly cost because it makes me feel like I have to play even when I have to do other things. For that reason, I will not pay monthly.
I would however agree to a one time payment of $150 (installments optional for me) and possibly a bit more since we are no longer "founders".
I'm not sure if it would equal less money in the long term either but I admit to not being a market specialist. I know it would be a way to get me to buy at least!|||I gotta say, bringing back the 'Founders Offer' is probably the only way I will become a subscriber at this point. I am an alpha tester who has recently returned to Hellgate and so far I have been pleased with what I've come back to. Granted, it's still far from perfect (and I have plenty more to play through before making any final judgements) but I have faith that the FSS crew will get it there.
As far as I'm concerned, anyone who puts up $150 now, when the game is hitting the bargain bins and harbingers of doom still abound, is as much a Founder as anyone who paid a month and a half ago (those who signed up on day one or thereabouts have the added honor of having that date attached to their account).
I'll admit my faith wavered in the beginning, for a number of reasons which I'll elaborate upon at some point (I've chosen to remain more of a lurker on the official/fansite boards until I've completed the game on a couple of characters), but having started to play classic Diablo and it's sequel again I realized that anyone who can make games that are that freaking amazing more than a decade later is worth supporting despite more recent mistakes.
For me, subscribing at this point would be far more of a show of faith in what the game can be than what it currently is and thus the only circumstance that I could see becoming a subscriber now (or even within the next 12-18 months or longer) is if they offer amnesty to those of us whose faith wavered early on.
